A homey little mexican restaurant with a high spirited edge.
82 Goswell Rd, London EC1V 7DB
Just off the crossroads between Goswell road and Old street in Clerkenwell is a little beaming opaque gem, Breddos Tacos. Following its move from Carnaby Street it has kept its original vibe and improved on it. You walk past the draw curtain and immediately feel in a space crafted for intimate fun and enjoyment. The kitchen in full view setting the tempo alongside the old school disco being played to fill this cosy space. However, with all that said the food is the lynchpin that completes the experience. The majority of the food is designed to be enjoyed both individually and shared in a group, so we had a healthy amount on the menu. The starters show a wide range with the highlights of the set being the tamarind chicken wings and the queso fundido (with chorizo). The tacos were all excellent (especially the baja fish tacos). The textures and flavours all easily combined together; freshness from the different salsa, crunch from the filling all wrapped in an amazingly soft tortilla. The killer dish overall was the carne asada, which was delicately cooked hanger steak accompanied by rice, black beans and a spicy salsa to make your own tortilla.
Breddos is a classy yet casual dining experience with the attentive and warm staff being a key part of the whole operation. I can assure you if you take the time to venture into Breddos, you will not be disappointed.
The Alfred Guide Tip
great for a dinner date or a catchup with friends, the menu works best if you share a number of the dishes.
