Rustic tapas restaurant with a pleasant cadence
48 Frith St, Soho, London W1D 4SF
A black facade with long and thin windows and an embossed logo at its header sitting between Hoppers and the renowned Ronnie Scotts is LOBOS Meat Tapas. As you walk in, you are transported to what would be an archetypal tapas bar down the back streets of Barcelona. This resonates through the restaurant with its cosy feeling wood hue and shallow lighting. The Lobos really pin their flag to executing the flavour profile and aroma of their dishes. We had a range of classics: padron peppers, croquettes and chorizo al vino which were all expertly delivered. However the two dishes that really honed in on Lobos’ colours were the prawns in garlic and the secreto iberico & mojo potatoes. Both dishes really explored the full flavour of the main ingredients with a multilayered taste and smell that made it sad that there wasn't more.
Appetite attitude is their motto and for the food that is certainly true as the menu that is tasty and really it's down to your hunger. If you are looking for a quick but flavourful dinner that opens up a night of wondering in the vivacious Soho then Lobos is your place.
The Alfred Guide Tip
Great for a dinner and drinks (in soho), if you can request a seat upstairs as its got a special atmosphere to it. The Secreto Iberico and the prawns in garlic are two knockout dishes you must try.
