Slick and energetic Japanese small plates restaurant
56 Old Compton St, Soho, London W1D 4UE
A very sharp facade immediately gives you a sense of cool refinement. However it is a place that has a city buzz and as well a creative streak. This is highlighted by the functional seating arrangement , grayscale decor. In contrast to this the bright kitchen and bar in view surrounded by an assortment of greenery. The chefs are hard at work all in view at the back of the restaurant. This results in some flashes of fire, smoke and aromatic smells that makes your mouth water. The food follows this trope with an array of vibrant presentation complemented by their balanced fully developed flavour.
The food is fun and the atmosphere is animated, making it a place that will set the evening up right for some fun in soho.
I had the taster menu, which showcased a range of their signature dishes which was a flavour delight. The high point being the hay smoked beef fillet which was supremely tender and accompanied by some fascinating sauces which I couldn't get enough off. That capped off with an ultra smooth old fashion made for a classic evening in soho. If you're looking for a timely pitstop on your way to an evening full of plans then Robata is your ideal location.
The Alfred Guide Tip
A great early dinner spot to set up the evening in soho. Also perfect for a small group.
